Which part of the Central Valley do you serve?

Central Valley Journalism Collaborative defines the Central Valley as the 19-county region that is approximately 450 miles north to south. This includes Fresno, Merced, Stanislaus, Stockton, Kern, and Sacramento.

What is Central Valley Journalism Collaborative’s operating priority?

Central Valley Journalism Collaborative’s purpose is to enable and identify paths towards sustainability for local journalism through collaboration. Towards this goal, Central Valley Journalism Collaborative will establish new legal structures through which equitable ownership, participation of new partners, publishing, acquisition of media entities, direct employment of journalists, advocacy, and operations are actualized. Central Valley Journalism Collaborative’s active role will be to establish and invest in these new structures and capture the impact and learning realized. Central Valley Journalism Collaborative is positioned to creatively accept investment, regrant funds, and support creative problem-solving and collaborative structures.

Who are your partners?

Currently, Everyday Impact Consulting is partnering with us as a ground-gathering partner in Merced and Stockton, and Studio to be is our product development engagement partner.

 

We partner with local newsrooms to increase reporting capacity for high quality and community-based journalism in the Central Valley. We welcome new partnerships and will be actively seeking to add value to existing efforts in the Central Valley media landscape. Please note that inquiries tied to funding requests are not being considered at this current time. 

How is CVJC funded?

CVJC is funded in partnership with the following founding supporters:

  • Microsoft Local Journalism Initiative
  • Central Valley Community Foundation
  • California Health Care Foundation

This seed funding is designed to not only launch the CVJC and partner newsrooms, but to provide the support needed to build sustainability for the long term.
